Case Histories
Minnie Mae – Maine Coon Cat: My dear old Minnie Mae, who has already passed, was an inside cat all her life, and still when Bermuda grass was in it’s growing season she would break out in a rash and itch. I would often mistake this for irritation from fleas even though I could not see any signs of them on her and she never went out. My assumption being they came in on the cuffs of my pants and transferred to the cat. She would loser hair at an alarming rate – not fun with a Maine Coon – and leave gashes in her head from scratching repeatedly. It did little for her already acerbic mood.
Pancho Villa – Chihuahua Dog: My Grand-Dog, Pancho, also has an allergy to Bermuda grass and being a small Chihuahua the lives in the country and dearly loves the out of doors, it is unavoidable, and he is too low slung to escape contact. He will break out in a rash that begins a nervous cycle of scratching and nibbling at himself that leads to an almost neurotic behavior that annoys all and leaves him with hot spots before long. Even after he is healed and the allergy cleared up, he is caught in the nervous scratching and biting cycle that can be difficult to break. Pancho also responds well to Animal Reiki when he is in a full-blown reaction to the grass.
